Competence Field Automotive Engineering
The competence center of automotive engineering is focused on research fields that present great opportunities for save, sustainable and comfortable mobility. One of these challenging future tasks is automated driving. In the representative field of competence, scientific tasks that concern the digitization of vehicles, especially the vehicle suspension, are acquired. Here, new solutions for driver assistance as well as new methods for development and testing of digital vehicle systems stand in the foreground.
Special know-how has also been developed in the field of environmental protection with a focus on non-exhaust emissions of vehicles.
The outstanding supply with research equipment as well as the comprehensive knowledge of the scientific staff, are the main requirements for successful work on regional and international research projects

16 partners are working together in the project: three big automotive manufacturers (Volvo, Skoda und Jaguar Land Rover), strong suppliers and industrial developers (AVL, Infineon, Virtual Vehicle, IPG Automotive) and highly-recognized academic organizations (Coventry University, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, TU Ilmenau, Université de technologie de Compiègne, Università degli studi di Pavia, Technische Universiteit Delft, Czech Academy of Sciences, The University of Liverpool).
The European project ITEAM is being funded for 4 years through EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie-Actions „Innovative Training Networks“ with the total budget more than 3,8 Mio. €. The consortium consists of 16 partners working together to train fifteen PhD fellows in various topics of Multi-actuated Ground Vehicles (MAGV). The overall project goal is a substantial advancement of the European PhD education in the areas of environment- and user-friendly automotive technologies. The main outcome will be an establishment of strong European research and innovation group making a strong contribution to coming generations of conventional, electric and autonomous vehicles.
Distinctive feature of the ITEAM network is the concept of interaction of three interacting research clusters. The research cluster defines technical objects, where innovation results are expected: Cluster „MAGV integration“ – Mechatronic subsystems for active and integrated chassis and powertrain control; Cluster „Green MAGV“ – Energy-efficient and low-emissive ground vehicles incl. electric vehicles; Cluster „MAGV Driving Environment“ – Ground vehicles with elements of (semi-) automated driving as well as solutions for driver assistance and human-machine-interface.
